Xblock introduction

XBlock is the Open edX component architecture for building courseware of a course. XBlock was developed by edX and provides a convenient way of using components namely video player, HTML block, problem block, discussion block, advanced block etc.

These components are all developed as an Xblock and can be inserted inside the courseware using the studio. The courseware is arranged in a hierarchy (i.e section > subsection > unit ).

Some xblocks are already configured when you installed Open Edx, while some can be configured according to the needs. Here is the list of xblocks that can be configured with your Open Edx instance.
